Candravali at last!

I must have been reading about Candravali for years but being as dull headed as I am I didn't realise it. Now when I go back and read the books I have already read before over again I hopefully will notice her in those books. My realisation came when I was reading the book I was reading now and suddenly realised I was reading about her and the pastimes going on between Krishna and Radharani and Candravali. He kept slipping up and calling Candravali "Radha" and things like that.
Here is a quote:
Radha:Friend,Look! Look! Every direction is covered by terrible darkness.
Lalita:Dear friend, do You wear dark ornaments for secretly meeting someone in the darkness?
Radha:Yes.
Lalita:(She glances, smiles, and says in Sanskrit:)A necklace of sapphires decorates Your braids. A garland of blue lotus flowers rests on Your water pot breasts. On Your limbs is sandalwood paste. Around Your eyes is musk. I think that, yearning to meet Krishna, You have forgotten the world.
Radha:Please don't joke. Quickly show Me the path to the naga-kesara forest.
Lalita:This way. This way, dear friend.(Lalita gingerly walks)Friend, their limbs anointed with dark socmeticsw, many saintly girls go to meet Krishna in the kadamba forest. Alas, alas, the lightning splendor of Your limbs has become Your enemy. now, it breaks the darkness.
Radha:Stop mocking Me! Look! The bakula forest stands before us. (She walks quickly and passionately. Then She says in Sanskrit:)From afar, Krishna's fragrance does not make the nose mad with bliss. The forest is not filled with the splendor of His fingernails and toenails. Dear friend, I suspect your friend, wishing to play a joke, now hides behind some flowering vines.
Lalita:Ah! Come. Let's examine these kadamba trees on the left.
Radha(Does that.)Clever, playful rascal, I see You. I see You. Why do you hide your limbs? (Radha searches everywhere.)
Lalita:Friend, give up searching. Come. Let's decorate the pastime forest.

Oh you just missed her, Krishna left with Candravali to go to another forest. Maybe that is why Radharani could still smell Him, I haven't read past this part yet, I was typing it as I went along.

Yes I think He did stay with Candra all night. I will have to read this again in order to understand it better sometime. Anyway after that Radha meets with Krishna the next morning and steals His flute, which even the cowherd boys can't do. Then Krishna gets in trouble for accusing Her of doing it and the pastimes go on. Right now someone is helping to arrange for Radharani to meet with Krishna in the book.

Yeah, Hare Krishna Brinda! I didn't even notice Krishna ran off with Candravali until afterwards, even though I read it. I was just so anxious to hear about Radharani!

Padma(smiling): O Radha, please give me permission to depart. I shall quickly go to Sakisthali village and bring pleaure to my dear friend, Candravali, who sings the glories of Lord Krishna.
Vishaka(laughing): Padma, you are fortunate. your dear friend, Candravali, can remain happy simply by singing about Krishna, even though she does not get the opportunity to see Him.
Padma: Vishaka, why do you not also act in that way?
Vishaka: Ah, how will we become able to act like that?
                  Padma: Why not?
Vishaka: O charming girl, my friend, Radhika, becomes agitated simply by the sound of the name, Krishna.
Padma: (Aside) She praises the glory of her friend, Radha's love for Krishna. So be it. (Openly) Vishaka, you are genuinely happy. I and my friends are actually unhappy.
Lalita: Padma, you do not suffer at all.
Padma: Lalita, don't speak in this way. We are constantly in the dressing room, stringing garlands for Candravali, arranging her hair, anointing her bimba fruit lips with red cosmetics, and decorating her in many ways. Our suffering is a great network that has no end.
Vishaka(laughing):O Padma, it is true. You and your friends have many sufferings. I and my friends have only one.
                  Padma: Oh! What is that?
Vishaka: For Radha, Krishna is like an unreachable star shining in the sky. Radha is continually tormented by the desire to attain this unattainable Krishna, Who is like a regal young maddened elephant enjoying pastimes on the shore of the Yamuna.
Lalita(smiling): O Vishaka, there is one more very severe suffering. How have you forgotten it?
Vishaka: Lalita, what is it? Please remind me.
Lalita: O simple girl, it is that, moment by moment, we must continually apply yavaka cosmetics to the flower blossoms of Raha's feet.
Vishaka(laughs): O crooked liar, Lalita, stop! Stop! Radha's feet are anointed with the mineral pigment from Krishna's head. They are not anointed with yavaka.
Radhika(Embarassed):Padma, don't listen to the words of these foul-mouthed girls. just go at once to your dear friend, Candravali.
Padma: As my dear friend orders. (She exits).

I don't really like saying Radhe Radhe as much as Srimati Radhika. I think that is more respectful.

Brock, I'm actually glad you started this Candravali thread. I think at first everyone felt a little threatened but you've given us peace of mind by praising Radharani so beautifully. You praise her so much, more than any of the rest of my friends. Perhaps you do have lust, but then, it's not possible for anyone to worship Radharani with lust in their heart, so I don't see how that could be possible. Or otherwise, keep chanting and the lust will surely vanish into thin air.

These girls personalities really come out in this passage. I know Visakha has such a sense of humor and is almost abrasive at times. Lalita can be but she's more responsible. Almost makes me feel a lot of compassion though for some. I guess that even in the spiritual world, we learn and evolve to relate. Krsna is tricky, and he's always causing everyone to grow and sometimes lessons are hard. We know so little of these angelic creatures. I'm glad we are passionate about what little we know of them. That's just my opinion.
